ComposicaD has been developed since 2010 by Michael Skinner and Axel Seifert. Towards the end of 2017, ComposicaD (part of Optimum CPV) was acquired by Plastic Omnium a French Tier 1 supplier for the automotive industry. Michael Skinner retired and left the company, and Axel Seifert became a business line developer at Plastic Omnium. Axel Seifert left the company and in 2022 he founded Sharp Composites, a consultancy firm specialized in composite pressure vessels. After the aquisition by Plastic Omnium no updates or support was provided to Composicad users until the company decided to commercialize the software in 2022. Although the company hired a sales engineer and software developer, the future support/continuation of the software is uncertain.
